Medicare and Medicare Supplemental Insurance
Applying for Medicare can be a little confusing, so I’m here to help make the process a little easier. I’ve listed the nuts and bolts of Medicare, but contact me directly at 208-350-9933 if you have any questions or concerns. You can also send me an email at carrieanne@ptibidaho.com.
Who’s Eligible for Medicare?
If you can answer YES to at least one of the following statements it is likely that you are eligible for Medicare benefits.
- I am 65 years of age or older.
- I am under 65, but I have certain disabilities.
- I have End-Stage Renal Disease (kidney failure that requires a transplant or dialysis).
There are four parts to Medicare:
- Part A (Hospital Insurance) – helps pay for inpatient care in a hospital or skilled nursing facility (following a hospital stay), some home health care and hospice care.
- Part B (Medical Insurance) – helps pay for doctors’ services and many other medical services and supplies.
- Part C (Medicare Advantage) – plans are available in many areas. People with Medicare Parts A and B can choose to receive all of their health care services through one of these provider organizations under Part C. In most cases the Part C will also cover you Part D.
- Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage) – helps pay for medications doctors prescribe for treatment.
What New Medicare Enrollees Need To Know
If you are turning 65 and/or new to Medicare, the first thing you need to do is decide if you need to enroll in Medicare. If you decide to enroll, you will need to review Original Medicare. Your options for covering the out of pocket Original Medicare expenses are generally a supplement or a Medicare Advantage Plan or a company retiree plan. If you decide you want a supplement plan, you will also need to determine which prescription drug plan will work best for you. Although these decisions may seem complicated. PTIB (Personal Touch Insurance. & Benefits) is licensed and certified to sell Medicare Plans, and can help you understand the differences in plans. We can also help you enroll in the plan that best meets your needs at no cost to you. Contact us to get the information you need to make an informed decision.
PTIB (Personal Touch Insurance. & Benefits) also offers Short Term Medical insurance coverage – for one month or twelve.
